Article: Alien Workshop's Photosynthesis

Alien Workshop's Photosynthesis

The kind folk at Alien Workshop have seen it fit to upload their timeless classic, photosynthesis for your viewing pleasure. It's pretty difficult to know where to even begin writing about one of the most iconic skate videos of all time, a video whose influence is immeasurable in relation to the aesthetic of future generations of skate videos. An immaculate combination of ground-breaking skating, pioneering filming and editing, and progressive music choices mean this video still stands the test of time 22 years later; if you were to ask an entire generation or two of skaters their top three favourite skate videos of all time, I'd hazard a guess this would appear in most. Featuring skating from Anthony Van Engelen, Anthony Pappalardo, Pat Corcoran, Rob Dyrdek, Kerry Getz, Rob Pluhowski, Mark Appleyard, Fred Gall, Danny Garcia, Tim O'Connor, Brian Wenning, Josh Kalis and Jason Dill, and filmed and edited by Joe Castrucci, this is as close to a perfect skate video as you're likely to find.

NOTE lurker-cum-worker, Marcus Craven, aka Sarcusnevarc, was interviewed by the good lads at Vague a couple of years ago about a labour of love project he has been working on in relation to Photosynthesis. Peep the video above, check out Marcus' interview for an insight into the inspiration this video provides, and then peruse the latest from the current incarnation of Alien Workshop.
