Nike SB Dunk "Rodeo" Release
Nike SB has saddled up with their latest Dunk release and it’s a real humdinger.
While it was originally was set for 2025 Black History Month, the Tourmaline Nike SB Dunk is set to release next week. Steeped in tons of cowboy heritage, it’s unique look and inspiration make it one of the biggest Nike SB releases of the year - so here’s run down of this rootin’ tootin’ skate shoe.
History Behind The Rodeo Nike SB Dunk
A proper slice of old-school Americana, rodeo culture has roots stretching back to the 1800s. Born from a heady mix of Mestizo, Indigenous and Anglo traditions, the earliest rodeos were ranch-versus-ranch clashes – no rulebooks, just skill, grit and a bit of showmanship. Often overlooked in culture, Black ranchers played a massive role in shaping the scene, bringing bold new styles and turning rodeo into a full-blown spectacle through the 20th century.
This Dunk Low pays tribute to that untold legacy. Its colour palette and crafted details nod to the spirit of the American Southwest and the Black pioneers who helped define its first true action sport.
Cowboy Nike SB Dunk Low
At first glance, you’re hit with that “Tourmaline” green suede upper, roped in by rich Brown panel by the heel and orange piping. A cracked leather heel tag and Western star embroidery nod to cowboy boots, while lasso-style heel branding and thick rope laces certainly double down on the western theme and we’re big fans.
Inside, you’ll find golden satin liners and custom insoles featuring a silhouette busting a manual with a horse (apparently this called Rearing in the equestrian world) in a vivid dusk scene – something straight out of a spaghetti western. This imagery is echoed again on the matching yellow handkerchief that comes with the pair. This little freebee comes printed with the sage cowboy mantra “What’s gonna happen is gonna happen.”
Topping it all off is a jet black Swoosh, a flash of red underfoot and a tongue tag stamped with “Certified for the real riders, crafted for the modern cowboy.” To Put it simply, the details on these make it pretty special indeed
