Article: Arts & Rec X Nike SB

Releases

Arts & Rec X Nike SB

Nike SB have teamed up with Arts-Rec Skate shop for a wildlife-infused double-whammy: the Dunk Low Pro and the Air Trainer 1 – two beauts that are anything but tame.

Grab those comedically large nets and don your camo as we take a look at some certifiably beast skate shoes.

Arts & Rec X Nike SB Dunk Low Pro

Arts-Rec the skate shop and community hub from pro skate Kellen James has pulled out the stops for this collab. Taking inspiration from the 99-acre zoo in Balboa Park, San Deigo, the dunk features some absolutely feral flair with the likes of leopard print embossing, rust pink suede, green tumbled leather all topped off with a hurry suede swoosh. This are pretty wild but are closely related to Nike’s signature safari colourways.

A closer look at the shoe also reveals more links to San Diego Zoo and illustrate the attention to detail Arts-Rec and the skate shoe Juggernaut put into this skate shoe. More animal print detailing on the insole (or sockliner depending on where you’re from) and shoe wrapping and “Please Do Not Tap On Glass” and “Please Do Not Feed the Animals” messages hidden on the tongue directly pull from the city’s premier attraction. All of this chaos is topped perfectly with clean and crisp branding and subtle nods on the semi-translucent outsole to the shop. This is a doozy of dunk if you ask us.

Arts & Rec Nike SB Air Trainer 1

James and the lads at Arts-Rec Skate shop didn’t stop there! Reworking the timeless Air Trainer 1 originally designed by footwear phenom Tinker Hatfield. With the same colour palette, leopard print embossing, black faux fur and that chunky Velcro strap branded proudly, it’s clear they didn’t want one shoe to be outdone by the other – this Nike SB Air Trainer 1 is easily worth its own shine thanks to these crazy details.
