Thrasher
Thrasher Magazine - few words are as synonymous with skateboarding. Founded in San Francisco, California, in 1981 by Fausto Vitello and Eric Swenson, Thrasher has become somewhat of an institution and acts as an encyclopaedia for skateboard history past and present. Often referred to as "The Skateboarding Bible”, with almost religious followers of the monthly magazine, Thrasher has long been dedicated to skateboarding photography, providing interviews with the biggest professional skateboarders in the game, as well as a platform for cultural insights through interviews with musicians and artists.
Recent years have seen the crossover of Thrasher clothing into mainstream culture, and long-running staples like Thrasher Skate Mag and Flame Logo t shirts and hoods appeal to skateboarders and non-skateboarders alike. Over the years, Thrasher has routinely collaborated with some skateboarding and streetwear heavyweights, such as adidas and Supreme, cementing its position at the forefront of fashion and culture.

About Thrasher
If you’ve ever picked up a board, chances are you’ve picked up a copy of Thrasher Magazine. Founded in 1981 by skate lifers Fausto Vitello and Eric Swenson – the same duo behind Independent Trucks – Thrasher didn’t just document skateboarding, it defined it. Thrasher started as an underground response to mainstream skate culture and was proudly the first magazine to be edited and written by skateboards.
Fast forward to now, and Thrasher has built a skate media empire and is known as the “The Bible” in skating – the final word on skateboarding.
Thrasher Output
These days the Thrasher flame logo is everywhere. From Griptape and celeb hoodies to tattoos and graffiti, Thrasher has transcended its pages to become a full-blown icon. The mag still drops monthly which you can grab at NOTE – but these days they’re also smashing it online, filming legendary segments like Cold Call, My War, and Skateline, and keeping their Youtube, Instagram and other channels topped up with hours of skating.
Oh, and let’s not forget Skater of the Year – the gnarliest honour in the game. Since 1990, SOTY’s gone to the skaters who push boundaries and embody the mag’s “Skate and Destroy” motto. From legends like Geoff Rowley and Daewon Song to more recent winners like Tyshawn Jones and Jamie Foy, SOTY is basically skateboarding’s version of a knighthood and its hotly debated among the Workers and Lurkers every year.
Thrasher Magazine Clothing
At NOTE, we stock all sorts of Thrasher clobber. We’re talking those classic Thrasher hoodies. Summer-primed Thrasher T-shirts with the legendary flame logo. Heavyweight crewnecks, low-key Thrasher logo caps, and enough Thrasher stickers to mummify any set up.
We also make sure to stock all of their collaborations we can get our hands (such as Toy Machine X Thrasher, Thrasher X HUF, Thrasher X Baker etc) and any artist series that the mag puts together. Thrasher has worked with Gonz, Neckface, Spanky and many others over the year to design unique collections and new takes on the brand.
Thrasher at NOTE Skate Shop
We’re proud to be one of the UK Stockists of Thrasher and will continue for years to come. The Mag has been about skating your guts out, filming your mates, and celebrating the scene in all its busted-knee glory and we’ve backed this approach since day one.
