Polar Skate Co
NOTE was the first shop to bring Polar Skate Co to the UK back in 2011 and the brand has been keeping us stoked ever since. Polar is conceived and operated out of the mind of high octane productivity fiend Pontus Alv. Firm staff favourite for sure! If you're after some Polar pants and need some help with the different styles check out our Polar pant guide over on our blog.

In Search of the Miraculous
Pontus Alv and Polar Videos
Before Polar was even a twinkle in Sweden’s eye, Pontus had already carved out a reputation as one of the most original skateboarders and filmmakers going. Strongest Of The Strange, In Search of the Miraculous, I Like It Here Inside My Mind, Don’t Wake Me… these aren’t just videos you stick on once and forget about – they’re the sort of things you rinse to death, as much for the strange little worlds they build as the skating itself.
We’ve been backing Polar since it was a proper small-scale operation, stocking it before most UK shops had even clocked it. And yeah, the clothing is top-tier – no arguments there – but it’s the head-honcho’s vision and the brand’s visual output that really lock it in as NOTE Hall of Fame material.

Polar Big Boy Jeans
First landing in 2017, the Big Boy is a full-fat, wide-leg slab of denim that showed up while skating was still firmly in the chokehold of slim trousers and drainpipe jeans. Pontus cooked them up after diving back into ‘90s footage – Carroll, Sanchez, Turner, Drake Jones – and clocking how all that extra fabric gave everything a bit more swing, a bit more flow.
At a time when the industry was churning out endless slim chinos, the Big Boy felt like a proper curveball and largely flew under the radar. Polar kept them in the rotation regardless.
Fast forward a few years and they’ve become the most recognisable trouser Polar make – the blueprint for everything that followed. The ’89!, ’91! and ’93! all owe their existence to these things.
About Polar Skate Co
PSC boasts a diverse and interesting team and has been very hard working thus far in producing a distinct and refreshing brand image through their board graphics, video output and tours. Polar's team is Aaron Herrington, Dane Brady, Nick Boserio, Oskar Rozenberg, Paul Grund, Roman Gonzalez, Shin Sanbongi, Emile Laurent, Jamie Platt and Ebou Sanyang with the Alv leading the charge!
Polar Skate Co has consistently been one of the best-selling brands for NOTE over the years, and with staples such as the Polar Big Boy Pant, '93 Denim, and Fill Logo t shirts and hoods, it's easy to see why. Polar Skate Co always provides high quality garments, often featuring understated designs, but each season is laced with interesting pieces to turn a few heads. With Jacob Ovgren of Jacob's Corner repeatedly providing entertaining, and somewhat controversial graphics, keeping things light-hearted and highlighting the brand's tongue in cheek approach to apparel design.

Polar Skate Co FAQs
What are Polar Big Boy Jeans and why are they so popular?
Polar’s Big Boy Jeans are one of the defining silhouettes in
modern skateboarding – a properly baggy, wide-leg jean that landed while
everything else was going slim. Designed by Pontus Alv with skating in mind,
they’ve got room through the thigh and knee and are built from tough denim that
can take a beating.
They’ve since become a reference point for the wider baggy
trend, but Polar were ahead of the curve. Alongside the Big Boy, the range now
includes the ’89!, ’91! and ’93! all
slight tweaks on the original.
Where is Polar Skate Co. from?
Polar Skate Co. was founded in Malmö, Sweden in 2011 by Pontus Alv, the man behind renowned videos such as Strongest Of The Strange and In Search of the Miraculous.
Despite its size, Malmö has had a huge impact on global skateboarding – home to Bryggeriet and some incredible DIYs and a seriously influential scene
Polar is a direct product of that. The brand still operates out of Malmö, with much of the production kept in Europe. They’re easily one of the best in the industry.
Is Polar Skate Co. clothing true to size?
Generally, yes – but the fit is intentionally relaxed.
Denim runs true to size, with the Big Boy and ’89! being the loosest, while the ’91! and ’93! taper slightly more. If you’re between sizes, going up usually keeps the intended silhouette.
Tops are boxy and generous. Size down if you want something neater, but the roomy fit is kind of the point.
What Polar Skate Co. decks does NOTE stock?
NOTE carries a rotating selection of Polar decks, covering current shapes and graphics.
Stock changes regularly, so if you’ve missed out on a specific graphic – keep an eye on the site because new and better things are always arriving.
Who skates for Polar?
Polar’s team is one of the most stacked in skateboarding, bringing together a mix of style, creativity and properly distinctive skating. Polar’s team features Aaron Herrington, Shin Sanbongi, Oskar Rozenberg, Nick Boserio, Emile Laurent, Jamie Platt, Paul Grund, Román González, Kiki Kakitani, Lucien Genand, Dylan Mills, Ebou Sanyang, Hugo Håkansson and Nathan Clancy.
