Nike SB Nardwuar Dunk Low Release

Right off the bat, Nike SB deliver a new dunk that’s less like a colourway and more like a full-on character study. Introducing the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro “Nardwuar”. This tartan-wrapped tribute to the interviewer, music savant and general gift-giving genius Nardwuar is shoe honouring the man who’s been catching people off guard for decades.

If you’ve ever found yourself firmly down the Nardwuar Youtube rabbit-hole, you know the drill - deep cuts, obscure records, wild gifts and his trademark “Doot doola doot doo… doot doo!” sign-off. This doozy of a dunk takes the guy’s mad energy and signature style and stuffs it all straight into a skate shoe.

Who Is Nardwuar?

For anyone who’s somehow missed him, Nardwuar the Human Serviette is a Vancouver-born journalist and musician who’s been interviewing bands, rappers and everyone in between since the late ’80s. He turns up armed with impossibly specific research and even more specific gifts, and leaves world-famous artists genuinely speechless.  A pretty difficult task for people who are literally plastered everywhere and have been interview hundreds of times.

Over the years he’s gone from cult oddball to a genuine legend in music culture. This Nike SB Dunk Low Pro “Nardwuar” is his first ever sneaker collaboration – a proper flowers-while-he’s-here moment for someone who’s spent his whole life talking about everyone else’s projects.  

The Nardwuar Colourway

The official colour breakdown is University Red / Black / Yellow Strike / Deep Royal Blue, but in simple terms it’s Nardwuar’s famous tam o’ shanter hat, turned into a skate shoe.  

We’ve got a tartan upper with a plaid mix of red, blue, yellow and white. A swoosh, chunky tongue, laces and midsole in black and a deep royal blue outsole that add a nice contrast to the tartan. Don’t get it wrong this is definitely a bold shoe but thanks to these more plain aspects, this is a pretty wearable shoe when put with some jeans.

Hidden References & Nardwuar Details

Like many of the best SBs over the last two decades, this beaut features some damn good details. The outsole carries his “Doot doola doot doo… doot doo!” catchphrase, the custom insoles get the guy’s face and “The Human Serviette” branding printed inside and the extra laces mirror the same colour threads in the tartan of the upper.

And who could miss that pom pom that make this a true tribute to his tam o’ shanter.

Nothing about this feels generic – it’s very clearly his shoe rather than a random tartan themed Dunk.
