Complete skateboards take all the guesswork out of getting started. Fully built and good to go straight out the box, they’re ideal for first-timers, younger heads, or anyone after a no-fuss setup that just works.

You’re getting the full shebang here – deck, trucks, wheels, bearings, bolts, griptape – the lot. And because we only stock completes from proper skate brands like Krooked, Chocolate, Antihero, and Real, you can trust every bit of it’s made to take a beating and keep you rolling.

About Skateboards

Deck

This is the wooden board that you stand on while skating and they come in a range of shapes and sizes to suit every type of skateboarder and style of skateboarding. Decks feature graphics that can look too good to skate and are often used as artistic wall hangers.

Trucks

These are made of aluminium and steel metal and come in pairs. The wheel axles are on the hanger which pivots on a baseplate that is bolted to the deck. Trucks enable you to control and steer the skateboard and they come in a variety of widths, heights and weights.

Wheels

A set of 4 urethane skateboard wheels are what you roll on and grip to the surface being skated. There are many options of sizes, shapes and hardnesses to pick from.

Bearings

A skateboard needs a set of 8 bearings as each wheel requires 2 bearings pressed inside in order to spin freely on the truck axle. Choices range from cheap and cheerful to ceramic Swiss luxury.

Bolts

A set 8 nuts and bolts are what you use to attach the deck to the trucks. The big question here is do you prefer Allen key or Phillips head?

Griptape

A sheet of self adhesive grip is applied to the deck and provides a coarse surface to prevent your feet from slipping off. At NOTE we provide free grip tape with all decks.

What skateboard deck size should I choose?

Deck size mostly comes down to personal preference – basically what feels good under feet for the terrain you’re skating. As a rough guide though – 7.75” to 8.25” is a good starting point for most street and park skating, while 8.25” and up offers a bit more stability for bowls, ramps, or if you’ve got bigger feet. Not sure what size you want? Pop into the shop, try a few different decks and see what works for you.

Should I buy a complete or build my own?

If you’re new to skating or want something that’s quick and ready to go, a complete is always a good shout. They’re all pre-built with solid parts from brands we trust. If you’ve been skating a while or want something more tailored though, building your own setup lets you pick every component to suit your style, preference and budget.

Does NOTE have their own decks?

Yep. NOTE Decks are our in-house boards – made with the same premium maple as the big names, just with our own graphics. Good wood, good price, and always backed by the crew here.

What ABEC bearings should I buy?

Short answer – don’t stress too much about ABEC ratings. They’re a bit of an engineering thing and not always the best measure of skate performance. Go for trusted skate brands like Bones, Bronson or any of the other brands we stock, they’re made for skating and are back by all the Workers and Lurkers.

What is wax used for in skateboarding?

Wax helps reduce friction, making it easier to slide or grind on ledges, hubbas and curbs. If you’re sticking when you should be sliding, a bit of wax will sort you out. Just don’t overdo it and check with other skaters around whether they mind you waxing an obstacle.

Do I need risers?

Risers go between your trucks and deck to give extra clearance and reduce wheelbite (that thing where your wheels hit your board). You don’t need them unless you’re running bigger wheels (55mm and up) or super loose trucks

Do decks come with griptape for free?

If you’re buying a deck from us, yeah – we’ll throw in free griptape. You can pick between a choice of Jessup, Mob, Pepper or clear griptape and if you want us to grip it for you, we can sort this out for you too.
