Nike SB

Nike SB was founded back in 2002 as a sort of disruptive DIY sublabel under the footwear juggernaut’s umbrella. Led by Sandy Bodecker, Nike SB took Nike’s failed attempt at creating skate shoes from back in 1997 and made the brand more widely accepted by skaters and skate shops around the world. It is now one of the most popular skate shoe brands in the world.

The first Nike SB was in fact the Nike SB Dunk back in 2002. The Nike SB Dunk has been around longer than the original Nike Dunk ever was before the SB era began (the Dunk first launched in 1985).

Nike SB has a massive roster of skaters. From Nike SB legends such as Paul Rodriquez, Eric Koston, Brian Anderson, Elissa Steamer, Stefan Janoski, Guy Mariano and Lance Mountain to the likes of Leo Baker, Kevin Bradley, Mason silver, Rayssa Leal and Nicole Hause, Nike SB’s team is stacked with some of the best skaters in the game. In the UK, Korahn Gayle, Caspar Brooker, Kyron Davis, Chris Jones and Savannah Stacey Keenan are all ripping for the footwear giant.

Quickstrike or QS is the product categorisation for limited edition Nike SBs. This means there are limited quantities available and as result they can sell out a lot quicker than other releases. As a Club 58 member, we are always getting in the latest releases including Quickstrike sneakers.

Nike SB Orange Label is the skate shop exclusive product programme from Nike SB. It is positioned as a thank you and shout out to all of the independent skate shops and the communities that support skateboarding. The Orange Label / ISO products and collections are more limited than usual Nike SB drops and can’t be found on the Nike website or non-skate shops.

While it can vary from model to model, Nike SBs are built for skating from the ground up. Thanks to upgrades such as reinforced materials, extra padding, better grip and supreme cushioning, Nike SBs are pretty damn good for all styles of skating – something that can’t be said for the general release Nikes.

Nike SB have consistently produced some of the most diverse skate shoes since their inception in 2002, and recent years have seen the popularity of Nike SB Dunks absolutely skyrocket, which in turn has had a knock-on effect on the brand and cemented Nike SB one of the most popular clothing and apparel brands alongside its collection of trainers, which appeal to both skaters and sneakerheads alike.
