ADV stands for Advanced and signifies that the classic adidas silhouette has been upgraded for skateboarding. Built with reinforced materials and skate-specific construction for better durability, grip and boardfeel, these are not just a rebrand but an improvement from the ground up compared to the standard versions.

adidas Skateboarding is backed by a stacked team of riders, and many of its standout shoes are built directly around them – like Tyshawn Jones’ adidas Tyshawn and Tyshawn Low, known for clean design with high functionality and durability, and Heitor Da Silva’s signature Forum 84 Low, which reworks an ’80s adidas classic with fresh, hip-hop-inspired colourways. The adidas roster includes Mark “The Gonz” Gonzales, Dennis Busenitz, Silas Baxter-Neal, Lucas Puig, Mark Suciu, Tyshawn Jones, Na-Kel Smith, Mike Arnold, Rodrigo TX, Miles Silvas, Daewon Song, Nora Vasconcellos, Jason Dill, Maité Steenhoudt, DeAndre Thebpanyaaka (Lil Dre), Jenn Soto, Shin Sanbongi, and Kader Sylla, to name just a few.

Adidas might’ve officially launched their skateboarding division in ‘89, but the skate shoe juggernaut was imbedded in skating way before then. Between ‘78 and ‘80 they launched the Skate – the first ever shoe designed specifically for skateboarding – and over the years, their tennis, basketball and volleyball silhouettes have all found second lives under the feet of skaters. Since going all-in, adidas Skateboarding has been banging out shoes that mix classic stripes with proper skate function – tough, grippy, and built to go the distance.

Adidas Skateboarding splits their range into three main categories:

• Signature – Pro models and colourways cooked up with adidas team riders. These are performance-driven and often packed with skate-specific tweaks straight from the source.
• Classics – Timeless adidas icons like the Samba, Gazelle, and Superstar, reworked for the rigours of skating. All the heritage style, now built to take a beating and with the ADV badge
• For Skateboarding – Proper skate shoes designed from the ground up for daily sessions. Think Tekkira, Glenburn, and other purpose-built shapes made for modern skateboarding.
