Venture Trucks Buyers’ Guide

If you skate Ventures, you already get it – they’re solid, responsive, and built for proper street skating. They’ve been around for years and they boast a powerful list of riders and prosBut with all the different numbers, heights, and builds out there, it can be tricky figuring out which ones line up with your deck.

Here’s the full NOTE guide to getting your Venture trucks dialled – sizing, Hi vs Lo, and what all those V-Light, V-Hollow, and V8 names actually mean.

Venture Size Breakdown

Venture sizing is pretty straight forward as soon as you know the code. But just in-case you’re brain is already full with all the different naming conventions other brands use – here’s a simple breakdown. Just remember the goal is to have your truck axle sit flush with the edges of your deck.

Truck Size Axle Width Ideal Deck Width
5.0 7.62" 7.5” – 7.9”
5.2 8.0" 7.9” – 8.1”
5.6 8.25" 8.1” – 8.3”
5.8 8.5" 8.4” – 8.6”
6.1 8.75" 8.62” and up

Venture Hi VS Lo

Venture may be most known for their low trucks (something that really made them a go-to truck for a lot of street skaters in in 90s and 2000s) but they also have trucks with a bit more clearance. The Venture Hi's Axle is typically 53.5mm high while the Lo is normally 48mm. The choice between the two is usually down to personal preference but the Hi with slightly taller clearance may be better for wheels 53mm and larger while the low may struggle with these wheel sizes.

Venture Constructions Explained

V-Hollow

Venture’s lightest truck

A Hollow axle and kingpin paired with a forged baseplate means your get some very noticeable weight dropped compared to their regular trucks but still with the same strength. If you’re looking for a light set-up these are worth a look

V-Lights

Again going for a lighter construction but through the Forged baseplate and hollow kingpin. These don’t have a hollow axel so will last a couple more crooks compared to the V-Hollow but are slightly heavier.

V8s / Team Editions

Classic Venture geometry with solid cast baseplate, standard axle and kingpin. The formula unchanged since the 90s and the go-to choice for many pros since day one. You’ll find these on a lot of the pro models.

V-Cast Hollows

This is one of Venture’s newer styles which is a hybrid between a couple different trucks. These are sort of mid-point between Classics and Hollow builds so they’ve shed some weight while maintain some strength with its cast baseplate and hollow axle and kingpin.
