Tightbooth x Nike SB Dunk release and preview
Once again we’ve got another dunk on the way and it's a real cracker. This time round Nike SB has partnered with Tightbooth to create a new version of the beloved dunk silhouette. Strap in and find out more about this highly anticipated skate shoe and its release.
Who is Tightbooth?
Tightbooth is not just your average skate brand. Founded by pro skateboarder and filmmaker Shinpei Ueno in 2005, this Japanese brand has made a name for itself in both the menswear world and in skateboarding. Particularly, Tightbooth gained popularity with their visual presentations like "LENZ." The brand recently dropped “LENZ III” which is final part of the LENZ trilogy – a series of videos which have talked about and shared among the NOTE Workers and Lurkers for what seems like generations. Well worth a watch.
Over the years, the brand expanded its offerings to include clothing and accessories, making it a go-to destination for both skaters and people interested in decent clobber. Tightbooth's influence extends beyond their own brand. They have partnered with other notable names in the industry, such as fragment design, HBX and Paraboot, to create unique collaborations. This has all helped Tightbooth become the key player it is in Japan's thriving skateboarding scene.
The Tightbooth x Nike SB Dunk Low: A First Look
Now, let's talk about the shoe - the Tightbooth x Nike SB Dunk Low. This collaboration showcases the distinctive style and personality of Tightbooth, combined with the exceptional craftsmanship of Nike SB. What a time to be alive ey?
The design of the Tightbooth x Nike SB Dunk Low is a true representation of the brand's DNA. It features a mixed-textile construction, incorporating various patterns and textures to create a pretty striking shoe. The upper is predominantly black, crafted from some sumptuous suede while the white leather overlays with debossed grid-like pattern provide contrast and give the shoe an almost industrial feel to them. Quite the spectacle.
Along with some flashy 3M, the padded tongue features a polka dot pattern and is emblazoned with TIGHTBOOTH branding. Completing the design, the Tightbooth x Nike SB Dunk Low boasts an orange sockliner with TIGHTBOOTH branding, matching the small lateral tag below the Swoosh. A black midsole and a white rubber outsole provide a clean and polished finish to this beast of a shoe.
If that description doesn’t indicate the work that’s gone into the shoe, we don’t know what will.
Some have drawn comparisons to the recent “panda” dunks while others have compared them the Staple x Nike SB Dunk Low Panda Pigeon. Either way, these shoes are true treat for the ole eyes.
