Pop Trading Company x Berghaus

Berghaus and Pop Trading Company. On paper, not the most obvious pairing we've seen from the skate industry. One has been kitting out fell-walkers, ice-climbers and anorak-clad mancunians from since 1966. The other grew out of Amsterdam's skate scene in 2013, has spent the years since quietly becoming one of the best menswear labels going and a firm shop favourite among the NOTE Workers and Lurkers. On paper they're worlds apart, but Pop and Berghaus are both fairly obsessed with clothing that actually works. And for a city where skating and a good anorak have always gone hand in hand, we can't think of a mind-meld more Manchester than this.

Pop x Berghaus collection

The collection itself sits in the space between the two cultures - the crag and the curb, the Cairngorms and the canal-side ledge. Berghaus bring six decades of technical know-how in the form of Hydroshell® fabrics and properly functional construction, while Pop bring the colour, graphics and detail they're known for, with garment dyeing, heavy washes, batik treatments and embroidery throughout.

In the collection you'll find the following: The Kara-Su 5000 jacket in red and blue, the Lhoste full-zip fleece in black and blue, a batik-dyed waffle longsleeve, the Extrem tee and a washed Logo tee. There's also a pair of sixpanel caps, one of which features the Berggoat, a creature we can only assume patrols the upper slopes of Scafell Pike, and a fleece beanie for when the wind turns.

The upshot is a collection of clobber that doesn't much care whether you're halfway up Kinder Scout or dodging puddles on Oldham Street. Pretty fitting for life in Manchester if you ask us.
