New Balance Numeric audiovisual retrospective

New Balance Numeric have been on a tear in recent years in supplying the market with some of the most stylish and technologically advanced skate shoes out there to keep your feet looking fresh without compromising any of the performance functionality required to keep you skating.

With that in mind, we've decided to delve into New Balance Numeric's proverbial back catalogue of audiovisual output, and provide a non-exhaustive, timely reminder of their contribution to the skateboarding mediascape.

'A Place in the Sun'

New Balance Numeric burst on to the scene in 2013 with this Los Angeles centric edit, skating a variety of iconic and lesser seen spots. The edit concurrently launched Numeric's skate shoe range and introduced a carefully selected group of team riders to the world, all filmed by the expert lens of Russell Houghten whose filming helped to showcase not only the top-tier skating, but also the simplicity of the design of their first skate shoes, notably the New Balance Numeric Stratford 479. The initial New Balance Numeric line-up consisted of PJ Ladd, Arto Saari, Tyler Surrey, Levi Brown, Tom Karangelov and Jordan Taylor, who are almost all still involved with New Balance in some form to this day.

'Quids In'

Following up on 'A Place in the Sun' was a tour edit showcasing the New Balance Numeric team's two-week jaunt to the United Kingdom in 2014, which saw Tom Knox, Marquise Henry and Jack Curtin added to the roster, and also a couple of appearances of the New Balance Numeric Quincy 254. Quids In was also expertly filmed by Russell Houghten, and featured what was at the time the pretty ground-breaking use of drones in a skateboarding edit, accompanied by a delightful soundtrack including the sultry tones of one David Bowie.

The edit featured a variety of Northern English and Scottish spots including a healthy dose of Manchester crust, and the marble utopia of Stockport ledges.

'VX4000 Raw Footage Re-Edit'

The original VX4000 edit from 2015 appears to have gone AWOL from New Balance Numeric's youtube channel, however, this Raw Footage Re-Edit exists to remind you of the prowess of the Numeric team, the array of dope New Balance Numeric skate shoes, and Russell Houghten's ability to piece together a top-drawer edit.

'String Theory'

After a brief hiatus between full-length videos, New Balance Numeric returned with String Theory in 2019 which was another expertly filmed and edited video under the watchful eye of Russel Houghten. This video showcased the wider New Balance Numeric team, including an appearance from Davis Torgerson, and featured some of the more tech skate shoes that they had produced in the interim periods, notably the New Balance Numeric 868.

There have also been a variety of specific edits aimed towards promoting specific New Balance Numeric skate shoes which have been released in between all of these edits which maybe we'll take a closer look at at some point in the future.
