New Balance 440 x Welcome Skate Store

We are very stoked to be stocking this New Balance Numeric collaboration with our friends over the Pennines at Welcome Skate Store. Sam and Tom took the popular 440 silhouette and selected colours, materials and details in honour of Leeds legend Louis Le Prince. If you're wondering who Louis is he's a Frenchman who came to Leeds in 1866 where he experimented in cinematography. In 1888 he patented a one-lens camera with which he filmed people crossing Leeds bridge creating the world's first moving images. The leather and nubuck for the upper are coloured after the York Stone flags on the Bridge, the blues are taken from the metal work and there are small nods to other design elements of the bridge, along with the French flag taping in honour of Louis Le Prince.
