Hi I was just reminiscing about when me and my mates were skating there was a group of about 8 of us from Oldham who religiously went to the city centre at weekends to skate or buy anything from a new deck to stickers at split skates there would be 30-40 skaters all sat on the floor watching the latest skating film prob Public domain/animal chin before going to the banks at the crown Court or down Oxford Rd there was also a skate park at Miles Platting although the concrete bowl wasn’t the best and the huge steel half pipe was sketchy I remember members of Powell coming to Manchester and along with loads of others street skating near Shudehill with them before watching them at a skate park in Bury think it was called Goshen I’m nearly 47 yr old now and without doubt say they were the best yrs to grow up maybe things were a bit more innocent and skating wasn’t as popular this was before the Internet and social media I managed to blag a coach ride to London with a local church group and had to sleep in homeless hostel because I had read about places to skate down there my mum went sick when I finally got home 3 days later but it was worth it De La Soul, 3 feet high and rising had just come out It was summer time and I was skating on Carnaby Street really good happy times I still get jealous seeing youngsters skating now and would love a chance to skate again but not sure my body would handle it anymore
