Buy Polar Skate Co skateboard decks, wheels, t-shirts, crew necks and hoods. Polar is the deliciously unique board company conceived and operated out of the mind of high octane productivity fiend Pontus Alv. The European skateboard company is based in Malmo, Sweden and was launched in May 2011. Polar boasts a diverse and interesting team and has been very hard working thus far in producing a distinct and refreshing brand image through their board graphics, promos and tours.
Pontus Alv was already an extremely well respected skateboarder in the industry both in Europe and the US, having rode for various sponsors over the years including the legendary Mad Circle Skateboards during his time spent in San Francisco in the mid nineties, and later for the pan-European powerhouse that is Cliché Skateboards. He also garnished recognition for his first skate DVD release ‘The Strongest of The Strange’ in 2005 under his production outfit Klez Motion Pictures International.
Having received high praise for the uniquely personal and emotionally charged Strongest of the Strange, Pontus followed up on the success of his first video by releasing his second full length, In Search Of The Miraculous, in 2010. This was soon followed by the news that Pontus had launched a mysterious board company called Polar in May 2011. It took time for confirmation of the elite team Alv was constructing to filter through, but it soon became apparent that various stars from ‘In Search…’ had been brought along for the ride, including Warsaw’s Michal Juras and Copenhagen’s Hjalte Halberg.
Alv has gone on to recruit Sheffield’s Jerome Campbell, NYC’s Aaron Herrington and Rodriguez of Paris to give it a true international feel – whilst still retaining the authenticity of a true team ethic by way of its online video releases ‘The Polar Skate Co. Promo’ and ‘No Complies & Wallrides+shuvits’. Since it’s humble beginnings Polar has succeeded in getting more and more skaters worldwide hyped on its unique energy and openness to all forms of skateboarding – as long as it involves charging!
