Shop now for Etnies skateboard shoes and skate clothing. Etnies is one of the longest-running skate shoe brands around. It was launched in 1986 by former professional freestyle skateboarder Pierre André Sénizergues. The company has it’s origins in Europe, Sénizergues subsequently introduced the brand to the US and proceeded to build Sole Technology who now manufacture other core skate brands alongside Etnies. Etnies sponsor some of the biggest names in skateboarding including Cairo Foster and Willow.
Etnies are very active in giving back to the skateboarding community. In 2003 they opened Etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest, the largest public skate park in California. They have subsequently hosted a Sole-Technology sponsored competition entitled “Goofy Vs. Regular” at the park, which pitches skateboarders of the opposing stances against one another.
In 2012 the brand engaged in an ‘Easter shoe drive’ in Los Angeles, whereby they donated two thousand pairs of shoes to the city’s homeless and needy. Etnies team riders and staff were personally on hand to take part in the event, along with the then mayor of L.A, Antonio Villaraigosa.
On top of their charity work, Etnies has also initiated tree-planting projects in Brazil and Costa Rica entitled “Buy a Shoe, Plant a Tree”, whereby they pledged to plant a tree in selected rainforest reserves in the aforementioned countries for every pair of Jameson 2 Eco shoes that were sold. The project is being run in partnership with the “Trees for the Future” organization in Brazil.
The etnies skate team includes Enjoi Skateboards rippers Cairo Foster and Jose Rojo, the UK’s own Barney Page and Alien Workshop’s bespectacled ledge killer Tyler Bledsoe. It is also the footwear home of competition chomper and reality TV star Ryan Sheckler. Etnies make reliable skate shoes using the latest technology to ensure durability and great foot protection.
